It starts with reflecting back on the hard times but keeps pushing ahead without trying to look back. After one last attempt from your mind and conscious to keep you held back in the past it opens up and changes color. Then it’s about being thankful and grateful for the things that you do have that make you stronger and able to push forward. My wife & soulmate, my daughter and the spiritual connection I feel in this life which can be complicated and hard to figure out and hard to explain at times but an anchor nonetheless. It’s heavy in it’s content but it comes from a place of honesty, just like the rest of the record.
lyrics
Days were dark I felt like hell
No one to talk to and no one to tell
What I’ve done or how I fell
But I held on when nothing was right and everything was going wrong
Oh I held on when the days were the nights and a half second went on and on
Aaah Aaah
Baby please just let me go
I want you I hate you I’m beggin’ you so
When I wake up wanna thank God that you are beside me
Lord knows that I have told my fair share of lies
For now I have something that I can hold on to
Your body is warm and there’s light in your eyes
No I never ever wanna go back to those days are behind me
If you ever see me slip again please don’t hesitate to throw me a line
But I gotta tell you deep inside my heart & soul there is a lion
Who defends everything I say and everything I do
And every single time I wanna die and give up all I gotta do is call out your name
Now I can see the truth I’m free
Oh why I plead with you no need
Your love is free
